چکیده

Endophytic fungi isolated from medicinal plants have high diversity and the secondary metabolites produced biological activity. been subject of many studies on their activity, one which is jambu mawar (Syzygium jambos (L.) Alston). S. has long used as a traditional medicine to treat infections caused by pathogenic bacteria in parts world, including South Sumatra. This study purposed explore endophytic branches jambos, antibacterial activity extracts, determination structure compounds, active compounds selected fungi. Observations morphological characteristics were macroscopically microscopically. The fungal extracts then tested for antimicrobial against test Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Salmonella typhi, Escherichia coli using Kirby-Bauer paper disk diffusion method. Isolation pure gravity chromatography column, compound determined based 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, HMQC, HMBC spectroscopy. Four fungi, code SJC1–4, branch jambos. results macroscopic microscopic characterization showed three genera Botryosphaeria, Trichothecium, Aspergillus. isolate SJC1 exhibited strong Gram-positive moderate Gram-negative bacteria, while SJC2–4 four bacteria. Molecular identification revealed that it was Botryosphaeria mamane. SJC1’s yielded 1, identified 5-acetyl-6-hydroxy-3-methyl-2H-pyran-2-one. thought properties.

Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects of Syzygium jambos L. (Alston) and isolated compounds on acne vulgaris

BACKGROUND Acne vulgaris is a chronic skin disorder leading to inflammation as a result of the production of reactive oxygen species due to the active involvement of Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) in the infection site of the skin. The current study was designed to assess the potential of the leaf extract of Syzygium jambos L. (Alston) and its compounds for antibacterial and anti-inflammato...

Antimicrobial activity of bark extracts of Syzygium jambos (L.) alston (Myrtaceae).

Syzygium jambos (L.) Alston (Myrtaceae) is a widespread medicinal plant traditionally used in sub-Saharan Africa to treat infectious diseases. Acetone and aqueous extracts from the bark of S. jambos were tested for antimicrobial activity in vitro by the agar dilution method in petri dishes. Both extracts showed some activity against the tested micro-organisms. They proved to be particularly eff...

Bioactivity of Syzygium jambos methanolic extracts: Antibacterial activity and toxicity

Methanol extracts from S. jambos leaves were tested for antimicrobial activity and toxicity. S. jambos leaf extract inhibited the growth of 4 of the 14 bacteria tested (29%). Both gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial growths were inhibited by S. jambos leaf extract, although gram-positive bacteria appeared more susceptible. Two of the 10 gram-negative bacteria (20%) and 2 of the 4 gram-pos...

A review of phenolic antioxidants isolated from endophytic fungi

Oxidative stress caused by overproduction of free radicals or oxygenated radical species plays a major role in causing many diseases. The findings suggest the use of antioxidants as compounds to control the release of these radicals or directly prevent their formation. Therefore, antioxidants can be used as drugs to reduce or prevent oxidative stress. Herbal medicines are the basis of modern ph...
